IIC Brussels: Rumours of closing unfounded

With regard to the press release issued by the director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Brussels, Prof. Federiga Bindi, on 14 November entitled “Close or boost? Summary of the first year and a half of the management of the Brussels IIC”, the foreign ministry points out that the “rumours of its closing” are entirely unfounded. The closing of the Brussels Italian Cultural Institute has never been under consideration. Prof. Bindi’s statements regarding the preliminary summary of 2013 are not correct and are not in line with the norms governing its administrative management and orientation. The Embassy of Italy in Brussels is obliged to control the Cultural Institute’s budget and has requested appropriate clarification of compliance with the norms governing State accounts.
