The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Senator Benedetto Della Vedova, and the Mongolian Ambassador in Italy, Shijeekhuu Odonbaatar, have signed a bilateral agreement on exemption from the short-stay visa requirement for holders of diplomatic passports. The agreement was signed at the Foreign Ministry today, 14 July 2014.
During the meeting, Under-Secretary Della Vedova reiterated Italy’s interest in strengthening relations with Ulan Bator, especially in the economic and trade sectors, not least in view of Mongolia’s participation in EXPO 2015.
Under-Secretary Della Vedova told the Ambassador of Italy’s intention, during our Presidency of the European Union, to help strengthen ties between Mongolia and the EU under the Partnership and Cooperation agreement signed in Ulan Bator on 30 April 2013.
The Under-Secretary also welcomed the confirmation that the Mongolian President, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, will be attending the Asia–Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit in Milan on 16 and 17 October 2014.
