Italy–China: Della Vedova meets Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister, Wang Chao

The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Senator Benedetto Della Vedova, met the Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister, Wang Chao, at the Farnesina today, 5 September 2014. Their talks focused on bilateral relations, which are especially close in this period, including in the economic, commercial, cultural and tourism spheres. The two also discussed the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) summit taking place in Milan on 16 and 17 October 2014 and China’s high-profile participation in EXPO Milan 2015.

Under-Secretary Della Vedova and Deputy Minister Wang Chao also examined issues related to the strategic partnership between the European Union and China and the dialogue on human rights and on intellectual property, including geographical indications. “China and Italy – albeit with different circumstances and outlooks – are engaged in domestic reform processes which will further support reciprocal investment flows”, underscored Della Vedova. “Prime Minister Li Keqiang’s visit, just a few months from Premier Renzi’s visit to China and in the tenth anniversary year of the Italy-China strategic partnership, is eloquent testimony to our increasingly close bilateral relations”, concluded Della Vedova.
