“A great victory for scientific progress and for Italy”, commented Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni upon hearing of the appointment of physicist Fabiola Gianotti as Director General of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and leader of CERN’s Higgs boson research team.
“Fabiola Gianotti has my warmest congratulations for this exceptional appointment. It is a well-deserved reward for a life dedicated to nuclear physics and I hope she will enjoy many such noteworthy results at her new post”.
