The Minister of Foreign Affairs Paolo Gentiloni expressed deep satisfaction on the ratification of the Paris Agreement “COP21”, linked to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, (UNFCCC), just two weeks from the beginning of the parliamentary procedure. “Today is an important day,” said Minister Gentiloni. “Once the Paris Agreement is in effect, the revolution of sustainable development will enter into its most concrete and operational phase.”
Gentiloni added that “ although the international community still has major challenges to face, COP21 will contribute to highlight and reinforce the sense of belonging to a single universal society, which is an indispensible tool to preserve our Planet.”
The goals listed in the Agreement envisage the reduction of global greenhouse gas emissions by 40% compared to 1990 levels.
