Minister Alfano strongly condemns murder of Russian Ambassador to Turkey

“I wish to express my profound indignation and strong condemnation for the murder of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov.” These are the words expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, to the Russian Ambassador to Italy, Sergey Razov, during the ceremony with the Diplomatic Corps at the Quirinale. Mr Alfano made his comments following the death of the Russian diplomat, a victim of the attack that occurred this afternoon in Ankara. “The Italian government is close to the family of Ambassador Karlov and expresses its deepest sympathy to Russia. This tragedy further confirms our belief that the highest priority should be given to the fight against terrorism, within the framework of an intensive cooperation with all international partners,” said Minister Alfano.
