The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, was met at his arrival at the airport by the Spanish Foreign Minister, Alfonso Maria Dastis Quecedo. Mr Alfano embraced his counterpart, expressing his deep emotion and the condolences of Italy, a long-dated and brotherly friend of Spain.
“The terrorists – Minister Alfano said – attack our most precious value, namely our liberty, and it is up to us to defend it boldly and proudly. In order to defend it, we need a coordinated response that might combine an intelligence, military and cultural strategy and reinforce all the Countries’ norms against terrorism.” The two ministers then had a deep exchange on the latest sorrowful events.
