Undersecretary Amendola on a mission to Kiev

In the afternoon, Amendola held talks with the Deputy Prime Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze. The talks focused on bilateral relations with Italy, the process  of ratification of the association agreement between the European Union and Ukraine, the reforms taking place in the East European country and the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM), to which the Undersecretary reiterated Italy’s commitment and support for the “achievement of significant results in the field of internal security”. Amendola also underlined “Italian support for maintaining the independent, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”.

This evening, the Undersecretary will also meet with members of the Government and members of parliament belonging to the Italy-Ukraine Friendship Association. The meeting will be attended, amongst others, by Cabinet Minister Oleksander Saenko, Deputy Minister of the Interior Anastasiya Deeva, and members of parliament Sergey Alekseev, Iryna Friz, Olga Belkova and Dmytro Bilotserkovets.

The mission will continue in the Ukrainian capital tomorrow, where, among several meetings, Amendola will be received by the Chair of the  Foreign Affairs Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Anna Gopko, as well as visiting the headquarters of the OSCE special monitoring mission and holding talks with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olena Zerkal.

Also tomorrow evening, the Undersecretary will attend the premiere of Tosca at the National Opera, in the presence of Deputy Minister Zerkal, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome and the 25th anniversary of relations between Italy and Ukraine.
