Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Del Re, met today with Ms. Mami Mazutori, Special Representative of the U.N. Secretary General for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), on the sidelines of the 2018 European Forum on Disaster Risk Reduction.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Del Re reaffirmed Italy’s keen attention for natural disasters, a theme that is a priority for our Country as well, in consideration of its geomorphological characteristics, but also of the points of excellence that it vaunts in this sector.
Deputy Minister Del Re said that Italy is ready to join UNISDR in a cooperation effort in areas of the world that are hit by extreme weather and climate events – drought, floods and desertification – by also involving women in the effort and strengthening their role in the societies most exposed to those events.
