The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, on a mission to Washington

The 3rd of April is dedicated to the bilateral relations with the United States in the context of the fundamental strategic relevance of the consolidated alliance and the close economic and trade relations with the United States. In particular, meetings are scheduled with National Security Advisor, John Bolton, with Senior Advisor to President Trump, Jared Kushner, with Senator Lindsey Graham, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, with Senator Mitch Mc Connell, Senate Majority Leader and with USA Congressman Mark Meadows, President of the “Freedom Caucus”.

On the evening of the 3rd April, Foreign Minister Moavero will meet with the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and will attend a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of NATO that will significantly be hosted at the “Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium” at the State Department, the same hall that was the backdrop to the signing of  the  Washington Treaty, on the 4th of April 1949, by the twelve founding members of the Atlantic Alliance. At the end of the ceremony, a joint declaration will be adopted by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of NATO member States to reaffirm its modernity and centrality.

On the 4th of April, the Minister will participate in the Meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, which will mainly focus on security and fighting terrorism as well as on the Southern Mediterranean quadrant.
