Vice Minister Emanuela Del Re attended the informal meeting of the Foreign Affairs – Development Council of the European Union, chaired by the High Representative for Foreign Policy, Mr Borrell.
The Vice Minister expressed the Italian support to the Commission’s “European Team Package”, for a cohesive and visible European support to the fight against Covid-19 in the partner countries. Del Re asked to focus on building a global alliance for vaccine and universal immunisation.
“Civil society organizations are an essential partner for development,” the Deputy Minister recalled. “Europe’s role must be felt even in peripheral realities. We need a full community involvement, accompanied by dialogue with national leaderships, starting with those in Africa, in a spirit of true partnership to define priorities together.
Del Re finally stressed the need, at this stage, not to abandon crisis areas, such as Libya.
