Undersecretary Merlo: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues with the repatriation of the Italians

“The Italian government, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the front line and in collaboration with the various airlines, continues to work to fly Italians stranded abroad amid a coronavirus emergency home”. This was declared by the Undersecretary with responsibility for Italians abroad, Ricardo Merlo.

“For example, a flight of the Italian airline NeosAir, organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, departed yesterday from Santiago. With a stopover in Lima, the flight transported Italian tourists stranded in Chile and Peru – continues Merlo. “Thanks to the efforts of the Italian Embassies in those countries and the work of Ambassadors Battocchi and Curcio, it was possible to organise this extraordinary airlift that allowed this special flight to Milan”.

“Other charter flights will be organised in the next few days to bring our compatriots home. No one will be left alone”, concluded the Undersecretary.
