Undersecretary Ivan Scalfarotto had a video conference today with British Secretary of State responsible for international trade issues Ranil Jayawardena.
At the heart of the talks were the outlook for Brexit, the WTO reform process and the joint commitment of Italy and the UK to free trade to mitigate the risks to global recovery that could result from possible protectionist policies.
With reference to the central theme of transatlantic economic relations, Scalfarotto, in line with what he had expressed in recent months to his counterparts in France, Germany and Spain, recalled the need for Airbus consortium members to review their subsidy policy in accordance with WTO provisions.
At the same time, he hoped that, with a view to the corresponding Boeing ruling scheduled for September, the four European countries could reach an agreement with our US partners, with the aim of agreeing on possible proposals for an overall revision of the market rules in the aerospace sector.
