Today an Italian diplomat, our Consul in Jeddah, Stefano Stucci, was involved in the cowardly terrorist attack targeting the city’s non-Muslim cemetery, which Italy has unreservedly condemned.
“I spoke to Stefano on the phone to express my personal and the entire Foreign Ministry’s sympathy. Fortunately, he is well but, at times like this, our thoughts go out to all the women and men of the Foreign Service who, every day, serve our nation in the four corners of the world, performing their duties in very difficult situations, often even at the risk of their own health and safety. It is also thanks to their work that Italy enjoys so much consideration and friendship around the world and that it is able to export its products of excellence more and more effectively. The hard work and dedication of our Foreign Service is something we can be proud of. Our gratitude goes to all these women and men, with the assurance that Italy will always be at their side”. These were the words of Minister Luigi Di Maio following the terrorist attack that took place today in Jeddah.
