Deputy Minister Di Stefano speaks at the webinar on “Malaysia-Italy Cooperation on Cybersecurity: Shaping a New Strategic Partnership”

Deputy Minister Manlio Di Stefano spoke this morning at the opening of the webinar on “Malaysia-Italy Cooperation on Cybersecurity: Shaping a New Strategic Partnership”, organised in virtual mode by the Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and ICE Agency. The webinar was attended by representatives of the Malaysian government agencies for cyber security (NACSA), investment promotion (MIDA) and digitalisation (MDEC) and the main businesses operating in this sector, both Italian and Malaysian, which will continue the dialogue in special B2B meetings on the ICE’s “Fiera Smart 365” platform.

“This webinar,” the Deputy Minister said, “is part of the broad framework of initiatives we are implementing as an ASEAN development partner, a status we obtained last year and intend to increasingly build on, beginning with collaboration in key industry sectors.”

Cybersecurity is a field in which both Italy and Malaysia are on the cutting edge and technology trailblazers, in terms both of laws and regulations and industrial applications, gaining leading positions. Hence the ambition to develop a partnership that combines our best experiences and capabilities, based on the three areas of academic, institutional and industrial cooperation, addressing the issues of naval cyber security and the protection of strategic infrastructure, in particular telecommunications and energy transport networks.
