Foreign Ministry Note – Deputy Minister Della Vedova with the Deputy Minster of Mexico: relaunching bilateral cooperation after the pandemi

Deputy Minister Benedetto Della Vedova met today, by videoconference, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Carmen Moreno Toscano. Their talks focused on bilateral relations, the response to the pandemic emergency, fair and universal access to vaccines against COVID-19 in the framework of the COVAX Facility, cooperation within the G20 and the priorities of the Italian Presidency, as well as deepening scientific and technical cooperation, including in the field of renewables.

“After the slowdown caused by the pandemic,” said Della Vedova, “we are ready to relaunch bilateral relations, beginning with convening the VI session of the Binational Commission, hopefully in 2022, when it will perhaps also be possible to conduct a business mission to Mexico”. The two Deputy Ministers agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation including in the multilateral sphere, beginning with the Italian presidency of the G20, which will also be an opportunity to work together on a solid global architecture in the health sector.
