Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Ikram Nazih freed in Morocco

Di Maio: thanks to the work of diplomacy and Amendola

“Ikram Nazih was released today in Morocco,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. The Italian-Moroccan girl had been convicted of offences against religion for sharing a satirical cartoon on Facebook in 2019.

“I want to thank the Italian Ambassador to Morocco, Armando Barucco and Deputy Minister Enzo Amendola for their commitment to the cause. Together we have followed the case from the first moment, having at heart only the welfare of our compatriot, in full respect of the work of Moroccan institutions and justice,” says Minister Di Maio.
