Humanitarian flight of the Italian Cooperation landed in Baghdad

On 14 February, a humanitarian flight of the Italian cooperation landed in Baghdad airport. It left the Emergency humanitarian aid base in Brindisi with about 6 tonnes of medical supplies to fight COVID-19 (lung ventilators, surgical masks, FFP2 masks, protective clothing and gloves), mainly made available by the support structure to the extraordinary Commissioner for the COVID-19 emergency. The humanitarian caseload, which is a further testimony of Italy’s articulated commitment to Iraq, was delivered to the Iraqi Ministry of Health as part of the activities to prevent the spread of the virus. The operation was carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in close collaboration with the Civil Protection Department within the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
