Following the lifting of the ban on expatriation decided in the past few days by Sudan’s authorities and after the unexpected delay in outgoing flights, Marco Zennaro will arrive in Italy today on a flight from Khartoum after a stopover in Istanbul.
The Italian citizen, who has been hosted in the guest quarters of the Italian Embassy in Khartoum since the 15th of August, is accompanied by the Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Italians abroad, Luigi Maria Vignali who, on the recommendation of Minister Di Maio, recently returned to Khartoum to personally follow the latest developments in the delicate judicial dispute.
The Italian Ambassador in Khartoum, Gianluigi Vassallo, followed the affair since the start, providing constant assistance to his fellow-Italian, also through an unrelenting awareness-raising activity on Sudanese Authorities, and maintaining close contacts with his family.
