Today, the Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, met with the Canadian Ambassador in Rome, Elissa Golberg, to discuss major bilateral and multilateral issues and the initiatives to be jointly taken in view of the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations falling this year.
Ambassador Sequi expressed his satisfaction for the quality of the coordination with Canada at multilateral level, as was recently confirmed in the talks between Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. Secretary General Sequi and Ambassador Golberg reaffirmed Italy’s and Canada’s common commitment to assist the Ukrainian population and to manage the consequences of the war.
Ambassadors Sequi and Golberg reaffirmed the excellent relations between Italy and Canada and agreed on the importance of further strengthening bilateral dialogue on many issues of common interest, including the global issues in respect of which our two Countries are similarly sensitive to.
