Italy strongly condemns the capital executions carried out in Myanmar, on the basis of anti-terrorism laws which deny respect for fundamental rights and contradict the most basic legal and judiciary guaranties, and despite the repeated calls of the international community and of Italy.
We express our deepest sympathy for the bereaved families; stand by the people of Myanmar in its quest for freedom and democracy; reiterate our appeal to the regime to end all violence, release all political prisoners and reinstate a moratorium of the death penalty.
