Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani is in Brussels to attend the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union.
The Council, chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, will be preceded by an informal working meeting with Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to discuss the human rights situation worldwide.
The Council’s work will start with an exchange of views on Russian aggression against Ukraine, and will focus in particular on Russia’s decision to terminate the Black Sea Grain Initiative, a decision strongly condemned by all member states, and likely to further exacerbate the global food security crisis.
The EU ministers will then discuss the foreign policy dimension of economic security. They will then discuss the Turkey issue over a working lunch and have a videoconference meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken on EU-US cooperation on key common foreign policy priorities. Finally, the main topical issues will be addressed.
Finally, bilateral meetings with Deputy Prime Minister Premier Tajani are scheduled on the sidelines.
