Roberto Orlando has today taken over as head of the Italian Embassy in Niger.
His arrival in Niamey responds to the need to ensure that the Italian Embassy is fully operational in a particularly complex period for the country.
Roberto Orlando’s mission will ensure assistance to Italian nationals still in Niger and the defence of Italian interests, promoting the Government’s action for a negotiated resolution of the current political crisis.
Italy reaffirms its commitment to cooperate with all African partners, including regional multilateral bodies, in order to promote stability, the Rule of law and democracy in the region.
