Note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the attacks in Israel

Since the morning of Saturday, 7 October, there have been rocket attacks and ground raids by Hamas armed groups into Israel.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Antonio Tajani, who was immediately informed, is in constant contact with the Crisis Unit and the Italian Embassy in Israel to monitor the developments of the situation and has urged his compatriots living in Israel to exercise extreme caution.

Hon. Tajani said: “The government condemns in the strongest terms the attacks on Israel. People’s lives, the security of the region and the resumption of any political process are at risk. Hamas shall immediately cease this barbaric violence. We support Israel’s right to exist and defend itself.”

The Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Consulate General in Jerusalem are mobilised and fully operational to provide assistance to compatriots in the affected areas.

The Foreign Ministry urges compatriots present in the country to report any emergencies or difficulties to the Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv (tel. +972 54 8803940), the Consulate General in Jerusalem (tel. +972 505 327166; +972547688399) and the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (tel: +39 0636225).

All compatriots present in Israel are also invited to download and activate the “Crisis Unit” App, including the geolocation function. Alternatively, the website www.dovesiamonelmondo.it is also available.
