Today, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, had a telephone conversation with the new French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné.
The two ministers first of all addressed the situation in the Red Sea. “Italy will propose to the next Foreign Affairs Council, to be held on Monday in Brussels, a European response that will guarantee the safety of shipping lines in the region. This is a priority, also to protect the exports of our companies, considering that 40% of our maritime trade transits through the Suez Canal”.
Tajani also outlined the priorities of the G7 Presidency in 2024, in particular, the commitment to support Ukraine, to achieve a just peace, relations with Africa and artificial intelligence.
In congratulating the French Minister on his appointment, the Italian Deputy Prime Minister finally reiterated his commitment to work for a further strengthening of relations between Italy and France, including cooperation at the European level.
