The Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, is in Brescia today to meet with various representatives of Lombardy’s productive fabric.
The mission, which is part of the numerous initiatives for Growth Diplomacy launched by the Italian Government, is aimed at promoting the internationalisation of companies operating in the area, with the goal – as announced by the Deputy Prime Minister – of “spreading Italy to the world”. To this end, last December saw Tajani promote the first meeting of the States General of exports, and, in the months that have just passed, various initiatives to support the Italian production fabric.
Lombardy is Italy’s leading region in terms of the value of exported goods, with more than EUR 162 billion in 2022, accounting for 26% of national exports. The main sectors in terms of exports are machinery and metals, textiles-clothing and chemicals. The Province of Brescia, in particular, ranks fourth nationally in terms of foreign sales.
“Italy is a great exporting power and protagonist of the global value chains”, said Tajani, reiterating the Italian government’s commitment to “encourage opportunities for meetings between entrepreneurs, consolidate relations with our historical trade partners and broaden our gaze towards other high-potential markets”. The Deputy Prime Minister particularly emphasised that “the constant dialogue between the Italian government, businesses, craftsmen and associations is fundamental to responding together to the challenges posed by the current complex international situation”.
“The objective of growth requires us to work looking to the future, to find solutions to today’s problems, in the interest of our territories, with an eye to tomorrow”, Tajani concluded.
