New platform for assisting Italian nationals inaugurated

As requested by Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, the new digital platform M.I.R.T.A. (Monitoraggio In Rete Tutela e Assistenza Consolare – Consular Protection and Assistance Online Monitoring) was inaugurated today. The platform will allow the embassies and consulates of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to monitor the actions carried out to assist Italian citizens around the world via a versatile and articulated tool.

“The launch of the new platform is another step in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ efforts to protect Italians around the world in an increasingly efficient and effective manner”, commented Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, adding that “Digitisation and innovation are central to the monitoring of the many and complex issues involving Italian nationals abroad: from detainees to medical repatriations, from minors in custody disputes to destitute compatriots”.

Assistance to detainees, loans to Italian nationals in difficulty, minors in disputes, and medical repatriations are just some of the sectors requiring daily attention from Italian embassies and consulates abroad. Thanks to the new platform, their management will be even more capillary, boosted by an interface that is easier to consult and update, and aimed at providing more timely and constant assistance to all Italians around the world.
