The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, is on a mission to Brussels to attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council, chaired by High Representative Josep Borrell.
The meeting will open with a discussion on the Russian war on Ukraine, which will also be attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
In that context, Minister Tajani will address the issue of the Russian government’s financial “aggression” against European companies, also after the meetings of the “Russia Table” convened in the wake of the Ariston and Unicredit cases to listen to the requests of national companies operating in Russia.
Following this, the 27 Ministers will discuss the developments in Georgia, Venezuela and Haiti.
The Council will then hold a working session devoted to the situation in the Middle East, to which the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, as well as the Secretary General of the Arab League, are invited. On that occasion, Tajani will brief his colleagues on the outcome of the meeting with the Palestinian Prime Minister, which took place on Saturday morning in Rome.
On the sidelines of the Council, the Deputy Prime Minister will hold some bilateral meetings.
