At the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, a permanent task force was established today at the Farnesina to monitor developments in Venezuela.
In the first meeting, chaired by Secretary General Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, all issues related to the Venezuela emergency were addressed, and some initiatives to be undertaken in the coming weeks were examined.
In coordination with the Italian Embassy in Caracas and the two consulates in Caracas and Maracaibo, continuous monitoring will be conducted on the evolution of the political situation in the country and on the issues concerning political opponents and Italian citizens subject to measures by the local authorities.
