Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be at the port of Genoa today to oversee the delivery of the first of 15 trucks donated by Italy to the World Food Programme (WFP) as part of the “Food for Gaza” initiative. The event will be attended by WFP Deputy Executive Director Rania Dagash, who will receive the donation. These trucks will ensure the distribution of humanitarian aid within the Gaza Strip.
This donation follows discussions held at the G7 Development Ministers’ Meeting in Pescara from 22–24 October, which opened with a Conference on Humanitarian Assistance for Gaza and Lebanon, attended by representatives from Israel, Lebanon, and the Palestinian National Authority.
In Pescara, Minister Tajani announced a new contribution of EUR 5 million to support the Palestinian National Authority in Gaza and an additional EUR 10 million for humanitarian aid, as well as a further EUR 10 million contribution for Lebanon.
Food for Gaza exemplifies an effective partnership between Italian institutions and the Italian System, recognised as a model within the G7 and across Europe.
