Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani expressed satisfaction over the Council of Ministers’ go-ahead for the appointment of General Salvatore Luongo as the new Commander General of the Carabinieri Corps.
“I would like to extend my best wishes to General Luongo for his new position,” said Deputy Prime Minister Tajani, expressing his certainty that “the excellent relationship of cooperation between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Carabinieri Corps will be maintained and further strengthened”. “The Carabinieri Corps brings together men and women who have chosen to serve their Country, working day and night for the safety of their compatriots, in Italy and abroad,” reiterated the Minister, recalling the decisive role played by the Carabinieri Corps in international operations and its constant commitment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the offices of Italian consulates and embassies, which “makes a fundamental contribution to Italy’s foreign policy”.
