Today, the Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, took part in the presentation of the new “International Training and Innovation Centre” at CIHEAM Bari, as financed with a EUR 6.5 million contribution from Italian Cooperation to create and develop an ecosystem open to innovation and the transfer of skills and technologies.
The new Centre, which will be equipped with advanced technologies and designed to be zero-impact, will support educational activities aimed at young people and executives from Italy’s partner countries, promoting innovation in the global entrepreneurial system, with a special focus on the African continent, in line with the Mattei Plan.
“The creation of the Centre is a further example of the Italian government’s commitment to responding to the growing need for young people to acquire skills suited to a world of work increasingly oriented towards the ecological transition and the sustainability of food systems, starting from the African continent,” commented Deputy Minister Cirielli, who emphasised that CIHEAM, and in particular the Bari Institute, is a “key partner of Italian Cooperation in the implementation of the Mattei Plan, as a centre of excellence in the field of training and rural development.”
