Yesterday, Undersecretary of State Giorgio Silli undertook a mission to Miami, marked by a comprehensive programme of meetings with the Italian business, scientific, and cultural community in Florida.
Silli met with several key Italian companies in Florida at the Consulate General. “The Southeast of the United States, especially Miami and Florida, has seen strong economic and financial growth in recent years, with total trade between Florida and Italy reaching $4.8 billion in 2023,” commented the Undersecretary. He continued, “This state is home to over four hundred Italian companies that provide employment to thousands of people. Today, I reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting this vital community, which exemplifies the competitiveness of the Italian industrial sector within the American market.”
Following this, Undersecretary Silli engaged with numerous representatives from Florida and the southeastern United States’ Italian cultural, scientific, and business sectors at the new Italian Cultural Institute. “You are a community in constant growth,” stated Silli. “More and more Italian nationals are distinguishing themselves, not only in business but across a wide array of fields in American society, as scholars, scientists, and artists. You honour our country—your success is Italy’s success.”
Accompanied by the Consul General of Italy and representatives from Fincantieri Infrastructure, the Undersecretary concluded his visit with a tour of the construction site for MSC’s new passenger terminal—one of the world’s largest—currently being built at the Port of Miami.
