Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be on a mission to Berlin today.
During the visit, Minister Tajani will hold meetings as part of ongoing discussions with partners from the European People’s Party, including Friedrich Merz, leader of the CDU, and Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg. He will also participate in the working session titled “The state of the European economy: making the EU more competitive” at the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus.
Following this, Tajani will attend an event organised by the Italian Embassy to showcase Italian industrial and technological excellence participating in the International Green Week, a major annual trade fair promoting the agri-food sector. With a total trade exchange of EUR 164 billion in 2023, Germany remains Italy’s top trading partner.
On the sidelines of the event, Tajani will meet with representatives of the business community, as well as stakeholders from the economic, academic, and research sectors. In the agri-food sector, Germany is Italy’s primary export destination, with exports exceeding EUR 10 billion in 2023. Germany is also Italy’s leading supplier of agri-food products, with imports valued at nearly EUR 8 billion in 2023.
