Deputy Minister Cirielli welcomes the Minister of Interior and Public Security of Senegal in Rome

Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli, today received the Minister of Interior and Public Security of Senegal, Jean Baptiste Tine, at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Farnesina).

During the meeting, key issues on the bilateral agenda were reviewed, especially cooperation in preventing and combating crime, but also cooperative management of migratory flows and partnership for development, also following the recent extension of the Mattei Plan to Senegal, a priority country.

“Italy stands by Senegal in its commitment to mitigating security threats at the regional level and managing migratory flows in a coordinated manner,” said the Deputy Minister, who emphasised Senegal’s status as one of Italy’s key partners in West Africa, owing to the countries’ shared values regarding democracy and the rule of law.
