The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, is in Trieste today, where he will visit the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative (CEI).

Italy is a founding member of the CEI, financially supports the Executive Secretariat, and, through the Italian fund at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, has funded the implementation of over 200 projects and initiatives in CEI member countries, aimed at promoting regional cooperation and European integration.

With his visit, the Minister intends to highlight the strategic role of the CEI in strengthening cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans, at a crucial moment for regional stability and integration.

The mission will provide an opportunity to discuss the strengthening of the CEI’s role in supporting the enlargement of the European Union, sustainable development projects, cross-border connectivity, and continued support for Ukraine.

The meeting will be attended by the Secretary General of the CEI, Franco Dal Mas, local authorities, institutional representatives, and political and economic figures from the region.
