Following the Sanchez government’s retaliatory measure to reinstate internal border controls at ports and airports for travellers arriving from Italy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stepped up the assistance provided by its consulates and offices to Italian nationals in Spain or travelling there. The page dedicated to Spain on the ‘Viaggiare Sicuri’ portal has been updated (https://www.viaggiaresicuri.it/find-country/country/ESP). All Italian citizens currently in Spain or travelling there are advised to consult this page for the latest updates and to follow the guidance issued by the local authorities. The usual entry requirements remain in force, namely a passport or identity card valid for travel abroad for the entire duration of the stay abroad.
The Crisis Unit has set up a dedicated WhatsApp channel called ‘Crisis Unit – Spain’ (https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VbD9FaiFXUuUe0Mu5o3n) and the Crisis Unit’s Operations Room has been reinforced; it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at +39 0636225.
