Following the works of the 3rd Italian Sports Day in the World – presented yesterday at the Foreign Ministry by Minister Tajani, with a focus on the sea, water sports and the blue economy – Italy will take part in the Régate 4 Med in Tangiers this October, an event organised by the Moroccan non-governmental organisation Tibu Africa under UNESCO patronage. The initiative will take place from 19 to 25 October in the Tangiers-Tétouan region and will bring together young people from 12 Mediterranean countries.
The programme will combine sailing with training activities, social inclusion and awareness-raising on the protection of the marine environment, as well as sessions dedicated to maritime professions and the opportunities provided by the blue economy. The event will culminate on 24 October with a regatta in the Bay of Tangiers, turning sport into a forum for dialogue and cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean.
The Italian delegation, organised by the Italian Embassy in Rabat, will comprise eight young people selected through the cultural association Usamborgia, based in Avola, Sicily. A photographic exhibition on sailing and water sports will also be organised during the event, featuring pictures provided by the Italian Sailing Federation. Italy’s participation is part of the strategy of sports diplomacy, promoting sport as a tool for growth, inclusion and awareness.
