On 22 April, the presentation of the novel The Anniversary by Andrea Bajani, winner of the 2025 Strega Prize, took place at the Feltrinelli bookshop in Montevideo — the first overseas branch of the historic Italian chain — with the support of the local Italian Cultural Institute.
The event, moderated by journalist María José Borges, cultural correspondent for Tv Ciudad and FM Del Sol radio, offered the public an in-depth discussion of the themes of the work, published in Spanish by the Anagrama publishing house, and drew a large and engaged audience of readers, cultural professionals and students. Further reflecting the attention devoted to younger readers, the author met in the morning with students from three classes of the Italian School of Montevideo.
The initiative forms part of Andrea Bajani’s tour in the Southern Cone, supported by the local network of Italian Cultural Institutes, which began in Santiago, Chile, and will conclude at the Buenos Aires International Book Fair.
