The first Risk Prevention Week in overseas visa offices, organised by the Directorate General for Italians Abroad and Immigration Policies (DGIT) and the Inspectorate, will take place from 26 November to 2 December 2017.
It is the first structured initiative of this type in the sector in Europe.
The Week focuses on preventing the risk of mismanagement and corruption in granting entry visas, and also on mitigating the effects in the case of ascertained irregularities.
During the Week, Embassies and Consulates outsourcing visa services will perform targeted visits to the offices of contractors to verify compliance with risk prevention rules (general information, technical and organisational safety measures, collection and transmission of biometric identifiers, data protection).
In order to streamline the verification process, a checklist has been compiled with the specific points to check.
The results of the Risk Prevention Week will be illustrated on 12 December at an event organised at the Foreign Ministry for International Anti-Corruption Day.
