Italy at Expo 2020 Dubai

Italy’s participation in the upcoming World Expo, which will take place in Dubai from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021, aims to present Italy’s cultural and creative identity, capable of combining art and science, tradition and technology, creativity and beauty as the basis of global dialogue. It is a project developed by teamwork that will be presented at the Farnesina today, before Minister Alfano, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Italy, Saqr Nasser Ahmed Abdullah Al Raisi, and Commisioner Glisenti.

Italy’s participation contract was signed by the Foreign Minister, Angelino Alfano, on 20 January in Abu Dhabi, during a visit to the United Arab Emirates, and Paolo Glisenti, recently appointed Commissioner General for the Italian Pavilion.

Italy will participate in this event, which constitutes a unique opportunity for international dialogue with the experience acquired at Expo Milano2015. Italy will bring this experience as a legacy to the Emirati organizers, based both on the contents of the “Milan Charter” and of the good practices acquired in organizing the 2015 edition of the World Expo.
The Italian project to participate in Expo Dubai 2020 will ideally follow up on what was done in Milan and will represent one of the primary priorities of Italy’s economic diplomacy in the upcoming years. The great teamwork presented today will involve the Government, local Authorities, the sector’s major trade associations, cultural, study and research institutions, and representatives of the third sector.

Spearheading this project will also be Italian companies, some of which have already been adjudicated important works, the most important of which is the dome on the central square of Expo Dubai, one of the Expo’s most iconic landmarks.
