30 years assisting Italians in the world

z2

Today, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Elisabetta Belloni and the Director of ANSA (the national associated press agency), Luigi Contu opened a photography exhibition that looks back over the main events followed to protect Italians abroad over the past 30 years. The exhibition was put on in association with ANSA.

“The exhibition celebrates the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Crisis Unit: a positive result of which we can certainly be proud. It is a well-known structure both in Italy and abroad. We are very proud to note that a great many foreign countries have wished to visit these offices to use our experience to identify the elements that would allow them to establish similar bodies”.

The Crisis  Unit operates 24 hours a day and monitors, analyses, and intervenes in the event of terrorism emergencies, natural disasters, epidemics or other crisis situations that involve Italian citizens abroad. The most recently developed instruments include a “Crisis  Unit” App which can be downloaded online for free and which facilitates consultation of travel alerts on all the countries in the world that are released constantly; people can also register with the App so they can get information on the countries they want to visit.
