ASEF: call for papers on the theme of Asia-Europe Cooperation

In view of its anniversary on 15 February, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) has launched a competition to select four papers in English on the theme “The Future of Asia-Europe Cooperation“.

ASEF, an intergovernmental forum whose initiatives are financed also thanks to the contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was established in 1997 with the aim of promoting dialogue and knowledge between Asia and Europe, with a focus on cultural issues. It is made up of the 53 members of ASEM – Asia-Europe Meeting: EU and its Member States, Switzerland, Norway, UK, ASEAN Secretariat and its Member States (Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Brunei), China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Russia (suspended from ASEF following the aggression against Ukraine).

In 2022 Italy decided to increase its financial contribution with the aim of strengthening cooperation – also within the Development Partnership with ASEAN launched in 2020 – in priority sectors such as culture, sustainable development, health and education.

The initiative promoted is open to all citizens of ASEF Member States (therefore also to Italian citizens). The authors of the selected papers will receive a prize of 500 Singaporean dollars (equal to approximately 380 US dollars). The selection will be entrusted to a committee chaired by the ASEF Executive Director (or his representative) and by 6 authoritative members (3 European and 3 Asian ones) identified by ASEF. Papers shall be received by ASEF by 24 February 2023.
