The exhibition FABRICa: Italian Textile Style and Innovation has opened at the DX Design Hub in Hong Kong. The initiative is promoted by the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Design Centre. Conceived by CMS Cultura and curated by Giulia Fortunato, based on a project by architect Corrado Anselmi, the exhibition will be open to the public until 26 November 2025.
As part of the official programme of the 2025 Business of Design Week (BoDW)—Hong Kong’s premier design event, which this year places a special focus on Italy—the exhibition showcases the evolution of Italian textiles through six immersive modules. From historic wool and silk manufactories to the latest technical and sustainable fabrics, FABRICa celebrates the creativity, research and innovation that have long defined Made in Italy. Visitors can experience a multisensory journey through installations, textiles and recycled materials, seamlessly blending tradition and innovation. “This exhibition intertwines history, territory and innovation, highlighting how textiles continue to shape Italian identity and creativity,” said Carmelo Ficarra, Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong. In parallel, the local exhibition Engineered Reverie: Hong Kong’s Textile Futures, curated by Elaine Yan Ling Ng of The Fabrick Lab, explores the future of Hong Kong’s textile craftsmanship in dialogue with the Italian vision. With FABRICa, Italy reaffirms its prominent role at BoDW 2025, strengthening the creative partnership with Hong Kong and highlighting Italian leadership in design and textile innovation.
