From 18 to 22 May 2026, the third edition of the “UNESCO Global MAB Youth Forum” was held in the Po Delta and the Colli Euganei, within the framework of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Scientific Programme “Man and the Biosphere – MAB”.
The event was promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, the Veneto Region, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Italian National Commission for UNESCO and the Biosphere Reserves of the Po Delta and the Colli Euganei.
The Forum brought together over 200 young participants from 142 countries within the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves, confirming the central role of young generations in promoting sustainable development, biodiversity conservation and action against climate change.
Over the five days of activities, participants exchanged views on ecosystem conservation, sustainable economies and the promotion of local cultures and traditional knowledge.
With 21 UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserves, Italy continues to be among the most active countries within the MAB Programme, one of the largest international networks dedicated to fostering a balanced relationship between people and the environment.
This event was also made possible thanks to the contribution of the diplomatic and consular network, which promptly facilitated the participation of young delegates from around the world.
