Press Conference on “Mision Campeones” (Foreign Ministry, Rome, 2 July 2013)

On Tuesday 2 July 2013 at 11:00, a press conference will be held at the foreign ministry in Rome, organised by the Directorate General for Development Cooperation and a delegation of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti (LND), to report on the “Mision Campeones” recently held in Guatemala City aimed at sponsoring the “Escuelas Metropolitanas de Fútbol” (EMEFUT) project.

The project, funded by the foreign ministry in collaboration with the Italo-Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce and the CS33 Consulting Firm, with the sponsorship of Pepsi and Banco BANTRAB, hopes to reduce youth violence through soccer, understood as a vehicle for development and social inclusion. The LND-FIGC delegation brought sports equipment for 16 soccer schools in 14 difference districts of the capital for children of between 5 and 17 years of age.

Participants in the press conference, in addition to representatives from the Italian Cooperation, will include FIGC Vice President Carlo Tavecchio and Lega Nazionale Dilettanti Vice President Antonio Cosentino. Testimonial for the event will be Giovanni Galli, former goal keeper for the national and other major league teams such as Florence and Milan.

Journalists and photographers interested in covering the event can apply for accreditation by sending a request on letterhead paper to the Press and Institutional Communication Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs either by e-mail (accreditamentostampa@esteri.it) or fax (06/3691.2122 – tel. 06/3691.3432).

Accredited members of the press will be admitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the central entrance, Sala VIP, starting at 10:15.
