On Thursday, 17 March, at 2:30 pm, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a conference on “Religion and Diplomacy: a new strategic pillar for a comprehensive mediterranean dialogue”, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI).
The event will be opened by the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Bernardini, the President of ISPI, Giancarlo Aragona, and the Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Sussex, Dr Fabio Petito.
The conference will be structured in two panels:
First panel (3 pm) “Including religion in foreign policy: the case of Italy and the West’s debate on religion and diplomacy”
Moderator Armando Barucco, Head of the Unit for Analysis, Planning and Historic Diplomatic Documentation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Second panel (5 pm) “The role of religion in the Mediterranean crisis: courses of action” Moderator Pasquale Ferrara, Senior Fellow, Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute.
