On Friday, 14 December, at 10:15 a.m., the Farnesina will host the Conference entitled “Youth and Intercultural Dialogue: Italian and GCC voices”, organised by the Institute of International Affairs (IAI) in conjunction with the Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI).
The Conference will open with introductory remarks by Elisabetta Belloni, Secretary General of the MAECI, who will be followed by opening speeches by Nathalie Tocci, Deputy Director of IAI and special advisor to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, and Waleed Farhan Al Farhan, Director of the GCC General Secretariat’s Youth Section.
The Gulf delegation will be illustrated several Italian projects involving youth in business sectors, high-tech, information and multimedia communication: the success stories of civil commitment with a positive social impact which could raise the interest and inspire their peers in the Gulf, in addition to stimulating a comparison between the perspectives for youth in the different Countries.
The event, the first of the kind in Italy, is an opportunity for Italy to act as a bridge between Europe and the Arab world, starting by providing young generations with the instruments to know each other directly, thus bypassing old stereotypes and prejudices.
Journalists, photographers, and TV crews interested in following the event are requested to apply for accreditation in one of the following two ways:
