On Thursday, 18 May 2017, from 4 to 6:40 p.m., the Farnesina will host the conference “Building the sustainable food systems of the 21st Century: the agroecological alternative”, organised by the Italian Development Cooperation Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and by the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Systems – IPES Food.
The Conference will open with greetings by the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Benedetto Della Vedova.
The programme of the event includes contributions by Olivier De Schutter (Co-president of IPER Food), Emile Frison (IPES-Food), Alexander Müller (TEEB-AgriFood Study Leader), Jose Graziano da Silva (Director General, FAO), Gilbert F. Houngbo (President, IFAD), David Beasley (Executive Director, WFP), and by Ann Tutweiler (Director General, Bioversity International).
The Conference will be closed at 6 p.m. by the Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Development Cooperation, Pietro Sebastiani.
