INFORMATION NOTICE – High-level Seminar “Combating corruption in sport – Towards a solid public-private alliance. The Italian Scenario” (Rome, 19 April 2018)

Please take note that on 19 April 2018, at 9:00 a.m., the high-level Seminar “Combating corruption in sport – Towards a solid public-private alliance within the framework of the UNCAC Resolution 7/8. The Italian Scenario” will be held in Rome, at the Scuola di Perfezionamento delle Forze di Polizia (Piazza di Priscilla 6, Conference Hall). 

The event is co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the Office of the Prime Minister – Office for Sports, CONI and ANAC.

The event, in line with the Ministry’s commitment to promoting international anticorruption strategies and with the international community’s actions to promote practices grounded on integrity, prevention and repression of corruption in the sport sector, is aimed at promoting and disseminating the recent approval of UNCAC Resolution 7/8 “Corruption in Sport” (https://www.unodc.org/documents/treaties/UNCAC/COSP/session7/UNCAC_-_Corruption_in_Sport_resolution.pdf )

The Resolution, which was adopted at the proposal of Italy, confirms Italy’s leadership role in preventively combating and repressing corruption worldwide, as well as any other form of deviance in an area at risk such as sport.

Scheduled speakers will include the Foreign Ministry’s Director General for Internationalisation and Global Affairs, Massimo Gaiani, the Coordinator of the Foreign Ministry’s international activities to combat corruption, Alfredo Maria Durante Mangoni, institutional representatives, experts, and eminent representatives of international Organisations operating in this area. The event is open to the participation of members of the Judiciary, Law Enforcement agencies, the Police Academy, the legal profession and the companies involved.

The Seminar will schedule three round tables.

The first is dedicated to the relevant international regulatory framework, and will be open to contributions by representatives of UNODC, the OECD, the Council of Europe, UNESCO, the CIO, the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the NGO Transparency International.

The second will focus on the Italian scenario and will include contributions by representatives of the Italian Regulators of corruption cases in sport.  

The third will focus on establishing integrity standards for the Italian world of sport and will especially include contributions by Italian Sport Federations.
